National Trust | Heritage Restoration
This project was carried out by experienced builders in Taunton on a Grade II Listed heritage property dating back to the 1500s, set within protected surroundings. The aim of the works was not to modernise the character of the building, but to carefully restore and preserve it while bringing the property back into comfortable daily use.
We undertook a full internal restoration of the house as part of our domestic renovation services, which included the careful refurbishment of original flagstone flooring, restoration of period timber features and traditional joinery, and a complete sympathetic interior redecoration. Every stage required patience and a traditional approach to ensure that the age and history of the property were respected while improving the overall condition of the building.
As part of the project, we also completed works within the large adjoining barn. Here we carried out restoration repairs and high-end renovations throughout. Particular attention was given to reviving the original exposed beams, carefully preparing and finishing them to enhance their natural character without losing their authenticity. The stonework was sympathetically decorated, and the interior completed to a high standard while still maintaining the heritage feel of the structure.
Projects like this require a sensitive approach, experience with traditional materials, and a strong understanding of older buildings. The result is a property that retains its historic charm but is once again a practical, beautiful home for modern living.
the Cottage - Full Renovation & Restoration
Set high in the surrounding hills, The Cottage was a complete transformation of a substantial period home, carefully redesigned to enhance both its character and functionality while preserving its timeless charm.
This extensive full-house renovation included a complete reconfiguration of internal layouts, with walls removed and spaces reimagined to improve flow, light and everyday living. Every element of the project was thoughtfully designed by our team and delivered with meticulous attention to detail from start to finish.
Two new traditionally styled bathrooms were created, featuring classic pedestal basins, elegant fittings and timeless finishes. One of the most distinctive features of the project is a beautifully concealed bathroom, accessed through a hidden doorway within a bespoke handmade wardrobe – seamlessly combining craftsmanship, innovation and period-inspired design.
The property underwent a full interior and exterior redecoration, alongside the careful restoration of over 40 original windows, ensuring the home retained its heritage character while benefiting from a refined, high-quality finish.
Beyond the main house, the restoration extended into the grounds where a summerhouse was sympathetically refurbished. A bespoke deck was constructed from scratch, uniquely supported by natural tree trunks to complement the surrounding landscape and enhance the property’s connection to its elevated rural setting.
